When released, the 'Stone Temple Pilot' debut matched the Zeitgeist. The band based around the DeLeo brothers Dean (guitar) and Robert (bass) sounds like a mix of the three popular grunge acts Alice In Chains (e.g. "Piece Of Pie"), Pearl Jam (e.g. "Plush"), and Nirvana (particularly "Sex Type Thing" and "Creep").
What is remarkable, is the performance of the voice artist Scott Weiland. The singer manages to almost perfectly imitate his three colleagues Layne Staley, Eddie Vedder, and Kurt Cobain.
