"At San Quentin" is being re-released on black vinyl (Columbia – 180g vinyl – Legacy Quality Pressing).
Although Johnny Cash's album "At Folsom Prison" might be more popular, artistically speaking "At San Quentin" is the better album. Johnny Cash seems wilder – some may say that is due to the loss of guitarist Luther Perkins – but at the same time he seems more satisfied and in harmony with the audience. He jokes about his drug addiction, rebels against the British television crew that wants to tape the show, and it seems as if he would really like to kill the bastard that called him Sue!
