Ud over de 8 discs indeholder Retracing Our Steps en 76-siders hardcover-bog, skrevet af den anerkendte musikjournalist Polly Glass (Classic Rock, Prog). Den indeholder personlige erindringer samt korrespondancer mellem Bruce Soord og hans mangeårige ven og fan Peter Clemens. Gennem nye refleksioner, interviews og fotografier ser Bruce tilbage på lange nætter og små sejre, venskaber og næsten-nederlag samt de utallige “massive wake-up calls”, der har præget musikken.

The Pineapple Thief blev grundlagt i 1999 af stifter og hovedsangskriver Bruce Soord og har siden udgivet i alt 16 studiealbummer, 6 EP’er samt flere live- og opsamlingsudgivelser. Den nuværende besætning omfatter Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson), som har været fast medlem siden albummet Dissolution (2018). I februar 2024 udgav The Pineapple Thief det kritikerroste album It Leads To This, som nåede førstepladsen på UK Rock Charts og andenpladsen på UK Independent Albums Charts.
